II. Summary:
On Thursday, the police announced how they were cracking down on illegal immigration in Italy. Four hundred were arrested, and nearly one hundred were expelled. More than 100 of the people who were arrested were suspected of violating immigration laws, 180 of theft or prostitution, and 92 of drug dealing. Those arrested included 50 Moroccans and 32 Romanians. This shows how Silvio Burlosconi and the Northern League party keep their promises about being tougher on immigrants. “The anti-immigrant sweep was a positive thing because that’s what people want,” said Umberto Bossi the minister of institutional reforms and federalism. There is about 670,000 illegal immigrants in Italy.

II. Reactions:
A) This article relates to the ap world theme, systems of social and gendre structure. This is because, these immigrants are placed in their own social structure and they aren't welcome into Italy.
B) Many coast guards sight ships full of illegal immaigrants everyday.
C) The author is a women, who is an outsider on this situation. There are many Africans that are coming over to Europe. Not many people are surprised that their risking their lives because they had worse conditions at their own homeland.
D) There should be some caution when you apporach this article, because the police, and the leaders were accusing all of the immigrants of doing crimes, really when only some of them did.
E) I would want to hear from an illegal immigrant. Hearing from them will help me understand what their going through. They can talk about what its like being an immigrant.
F) I think that it is wrong that all the immigrants are being accused of commiting crimes. That's not fair, because they are all being judged by what only a few of them did.
