II. Summary
The government in Nigeria states that Royal Dutch Shell and ExxonMobil haven't paid taxes or production sharing costs that they owe. Both companies are in discussion with the government and said they have followed the law. However the militant attacks and funding troubles made Nigeria cut their production down. A quote stated by AFP says that ExxonMobil has payed all their taxes and hasn't broken any laws. Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (Snepco) wouldn't comment on the companies and their discussions with the government. The production sharing contracts agreed with oil companies to come up with negation. The price of oil has shot up and the government is trying to negotiate with them. The Nigerian national petroleum company hasn't been able to fund for oil production and is trying to find other ways to pay for the oil. Also militant attacks and strikes from Nigerian workers also made the situation must worse because it pushed the oil to a record high amount.

III.
A). The AP world theme that connects with this topic would be the impact of technology, economics, and demography on people and the environment. This connects with it because economics has a big impact on people and there financial issues which is hard for them to live.
B). The historical background on this issue is that within the last few years oil and gas has gone up dramatically in many parts of the world which has people struggling with paying their bills.
C). The point of view of this article is from an outsider because this newspaper is an English newspaper in the UK and the situation the author is talking about is in Nigeria.
D). The point of view of this article could show a little bias because no one is happy with the oil prices going on in the world and the person writing this article is probably suffering them to and wants them to go down just like the people struggling in Nigeria
E). The point of view missing from this article is a Nigerian citizen who may be struggling with these high prices and how they are surviving until they hopefully eventually lower to a reasonable price.
F). I feel that the people in Nigeria are having similar problems to us on oil and it is really unfair to everyone. The prices are very high and its causing people problems to pay for it. I feel that they are being very unreasonable about this the problem is there is not much we can do about it because we don't get oil from the United States.

I agree with you that it is unfair for Nigeria to be asking us for oil because we are in exactly the same situation as them, and, we might be having an even tougher time than they are getting oil, so it is certainly irrational and unreasearched by the Nigerians to ask America for oil.

I agree wih you as well. The US is having just as much struggle as Nigeria for the need of an oil source. However, it has been proven that the US has a some sort of source of oil. I question why not much has been researched or revealed on this supposed source of oil.
