http://www.dispatch.co.za/article.aspx?id=201179

II. Summary
This article is about how a deadly earthquake struck Southwest China on May 12, 2008. 8,600 were killed frim this natural disaster and possibly over 10,000 more were injured. Many houses came down, and even a school in Dujiangyan collapsed resulting in the death of 50 students. In addition to these casualties, the earthquake that originated in Sichuan knocked down two chemical powerplants. Because of the damage that the country has suffered, all of the flights to and from china were changed and sent to other areas.

III. Reactions
1)This article fits the Ap theme of "Changes in functions and structures of states and in attitudes toward states and political
identities, including the emergence of the nation-state" because, the affect of the earthquake damaged so many buildings and structures and people in China. The government of China must now be concerned with getting things bact to the way they were.
2) China has had some natural disasters and other problems as well however this recent predicament seems to be one of the worst and tragic so far.
3) The point of view is not very clear therefore we can not make any conclusions on whether or not he/she is impacting the article.
4) It would be very helpfull to hear from a person that is involved on the Government of China because they could also tell us on whether or not the country was semi prepared properly and if they will take any action to try and prevent as much damage in the future.
5) I feel that it is very unfortunate for China to have experienced such a dramatic and tragic occurance and losing so many people. However, there are some things that we just can't always control; and we don't know if China could have done anything to minimize the damage. All we can do is hope that China and no one else has to experience this in the near future.

It is very unfourtunate that this had to to happen in China. It may be beneficial if China developed a plan for emergencies like this to prevent the number of casualties and to restore order in a civilized manner after the event.
