2. This article takes place in Jerusalem and is about a package bomb being delivered to a Christian pastor’s house last Thursday. The package exploded in the hands of the pastor’s teenage son. Amiel Ortiz, the boy who was holding the package, was very hurt when the package went off while he was holding it. It was disguised as a gift basket commonly exchanged on the Purim. Some think that this was because David Ortiz is a Christian missionary.
3. A) This article deals with the theme State-building, expansion and conflict because it’s about people targeting a Christian missionary’s house and one of his children getting hurt. Him being a Christian missionary and living the Jewish settlements of Ariel.
B) Jerusalem is a major place for Judaism and Christianity. This bombing could have been about the religious tension between the two religions in the city. A Christian missionary living in the Jewish settlements must have made the tension too much to bear. So apparently something had to be done.
C) Neither the author nor his/her nationality is provided. So this part cannot be answered properly.
D) It’s possible that this author is a Christian because they seem to be pointing their finger at the Jews who live in the area. They also don’t say anything bad about the Ortiz family, only the cruel tragedy that they’ve been through.
E) Mr. Ortiz’s point of view would have put everything into perspective. I don’t think he would want to talk about his son getting terribly injured by a bomb though.
F) I find this to be horrible the poor kid got a package and it blew up in his hands. This actually scares me because I’m the one that always gets the mail in my family. I don’t know how people can do this to other people, intentionally sending something that could severely damage someone being. I just hope the kid will be alright :/
