I. Officials: Sadr City battles killed hundreds in April by Mohammed Tawfeeq and Jomana Karadsheh

II. During the fighting in Sadr City last month 925 were killed and some 2,605 were wounded. Although most of them were civilians and criminals. The law enforcement agencies all of the civilians were killed mainly because the militants disguised themselves as the population. The number increased in April which was more then march which is more then in February. The Shiite militates had asked for the Iraqi has asked for a ceasefire, but the “crackdown on insurgents will end when the insurgency ends.” The government also how said they would not accept a non government armed force. Also many Americans have died not that many in this incident but 4062 U.S soldiers have been killed this is causing the U.S to quickly push the negotiations to an end and find a peace.

III. A. I believe this article relates to the AP History Theme of Impact and interaction among and within major societies. This is because this incident is being fought between the U.S., The Iraq government and the Shiite militants. These are three major societies and they are all important in solving this very sticky matter. If one doesn’t agree on the solution this starts all over again. These 3 societies need to earn to interact a little better though.

B. Sunni’s and Shiites have been in a religious war since the separation after the death of Muhammad. But, since 2004 the U.S. has gotten involved and complicated things even more. We killed the only stabilizer in the Middle East, Suddam Hussein, this left this region in even more turmoil then it was before. And since the day are soldiers walked on to Iraq soil we have been trying to fix this predicament.

c. The point of view of this article is two Islamic writers who our outsiders to the situation.
d. This article should be approached with caution because it uses words like insurgence. This shows that the author dislikes them if he refers to them in a negative way. He could have just called them Shiites, not insurgents. This also leads me to believe that the authors are Sunni’s which would be extremely biased against the Shiite militants.
e. A major point of view in this article that would be greatly appreciated would be that of a Shiite who I is being talked about in this article. This would be useful because you could see the real reason why the militants are fighting.
f. I believe that this problem has very deep roots. I think the U.S. has to leave if the region will ever fix itself it has done it before by itself. The Iraqi government should be capable of holding its own now. This problem will not go away quickly and maybe not ever. This is a very difficult situation for everyone.
