II. Summary
There has been constant fighting between Palestinians and Israeli armies over the Gaza strip. Many of the people dieing have been civilians and workers. On April 9th, Palestinians attacked the fuel depot on the border of Israel. This killed two Isralian civilians. On Tuesday, April 15th the Palestinian army open fired on Israel from a mosque, where explosives are kept. From their actions, a few Palestinians were hurt. Early Wednesday morning, Israeli forces saw Palestinians on the border of Israel and believed they were approaching the fuel depot of Israel. There were 7 Islralies killed when they came close to the gunmen. Abu Obaidah recently said, "Raiding our areas will never be a picnic". He and the Palestinians obviously value and really want the Gaza strip. There was also fighting going on in the air from plaines where 26 bombs were dropped, but somehow none were hurt, they did not drop them in the right places. 14 civilians were killed during one fight, out of those 14, five were under the age of 16. During the fighting going on there has been an unusual rate of innocent civilians being killed. Major Avital Leobovich of Israel says that she apologizes for this.

II. Reactions
A) This would follow theme 5, because one of the main reasons they are fighting over the Gaza strip is cultural. They both feel that it is their holy land and they should have the right to own it.
B) The history behind this issue goes back to the end of World War II when the treaty allowed the Jewish people to have the Gaza strip, since then they have been fighting over it.
C) The point of view of this article is from an American, women writer, who is obviously an outsider.
D) This point of view can be affecting the article, because it is an American who does not know much about what is gong on over there. She is just basing her article on what she has heard in the news.
E) I think it would be useful to hear from a Palestinian or Israeli civilian, it would help to see and hear how dangerous it is. We know that many have been killed. It would help to see what it is like and to see what they go through every day, not knowing if they could be killed for doing nothing wrong.
F) I think that this is horrible that so many innocent people have to die because their armies are fighting. Unfortunately, this happens in every war and is nearly impossible to stop.

Hey Shannon,

I really liked your article, and felt it was very interesting. I agree with you when you said that the war is very difficult to stop. Wars like these over holy land, are always dangerous and innocent people are killed. The problem is that there is not a clear side which is really right. Both the Isralies and Palestinians have been fighting for so long as you said, and it makes me upset that they can't solve their problem, but like all other wars there is never an easy answer.

heyyy shannonn,
well i really liked your article, its nothing new and its horrible that this war still continues to effect the innocent civilians in Palestine. I also agree that the author should have quoted some responses from Isreali and Gazan citizens regarding the effect of this war on their daily lives. i mean, you read these same articles every day in the news but it doesnt really effect you much becuase its not happening to you. if we heard from someone living through this terror, i'd probably be more real for people, and they'd relate to the article. something has to be done, but unfortunetly i really don't believe that drastic action will take place to resolve their problems any time soon.
good jobbbb

I agree with your opinion, and as Andrew stated this is a Holy war. We even learn about conflict between these two sects from 1000 C.E. It makes you wonder if this will ever get settled. I personally don't think the fighting will ever stop. Its also sad to see Israeli people dieing for their land. This issue is another UN issue, which is yet to be solved. I did a current events on an article about the same issue, and our opinions are generally the same.

I completely agree with you, and I feel really bad for the innocent civilians that have to die due eto cultural conflicts. When 2 opposing groups of people believe they are right, and try to win back their holy land, it will continue until someone gives up. The Palestinians and Israelites are so set on fighting and winning, I'm sure that we'll be hearing a lot more stories like this, even though it's terrible. Poor Cameraman!:(

Hey Shannon,
I really enjoyed reading your blog and i agree with you that innocent people should not be harmed because of two societies are fueding. They should just settle their differences and come up with a plan to share land. Great choice of article. This feud is over 50 years old and it should end now
