II. With John McCain as the republican nominee for the upcoming presidential election he has been voicing his thoughts and plans about the always-changing climate. If he becomes the new president, he plans to put a limit on the amount of greenhouse gases that are being put into the environment. He hopes to bring the emissions of the harmful gases down 60%. The liberal politicians like Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama, hope to reduce emissions by 80% by 2050. President Bush, on the other hand, opposed putting a limit on greenhouse gases. While the liberals are more commonly know for their concerns with the environment, John McCain is determined to make change during his presidency. His personal experiences have also affected his thoughts on global warming. Seeing glacier disappear has really sparked his interest in making this critical change.

a) This article relates to the theme, Impact of technology, economics, and demography on people and the environment. The issue here is the latest technologies and how they are affecting out environment.
b) The issue of global warming and reducing greenhouse emissions has been a reoccurring issue for many years. Former Vice President Al Gore is known for his work in global warming awareness over the past couple of years.
c) This article is by Elisabeth Bumiller and John M. Broder. They are both American insiders and are experiencing the issue of global warming.
d) The authors of the article seem to be McCain supporter as apposed to Bush because they are taking things that Bush won’t do and talking about how McCain will make it better.
e) I would like to hear from President Bush and why he won’t take action to reduce global warming.
f) I think it is good that McCain wants to make a change in the environment because Bush doesn’t seem to care about an issue that will eventually cause great damage worldwide. Bush hasn’t taken any major action, which is disturbing to see being that global warming is such a major issue. Although the democratic nominees plan to reduce emissions by a larger percent, I think that McCain’s goal is more realistic for our country because of our dependency on fossil fuels.
