II. Summary:

In England seventy-two year old Father John Benedict Corrigan of a Catholic Church was taken from his retirement area in Ireland since the 1990’s back to England to face trail for attacks on children. These attacks were held at the church in Gateshead, Tyne and Wear were he preached. It was said he assaulted two altar boys and one girl who were a part of this Church where Father John worked. Also, it was heard that none of the assaulted children came out to this crime because they thought no adult would believe there cry for help.

III. Reactions:

A) This article relates to the theme of systems of social structure and gender structure because it shows no matter what raise or job it’s hard to trust any person. In most societies in the Church priests are highly looked upon. The idea that the children felt nobody would believe them for there assault acquisitions doesn’t just prove they were scared but the idea that it was most unsuspecting because he was a “father” of their parish.

B) The history of the issue was that this event occurred about over 40 years ago and until now had the children with the assault issue came out to tell their story. It shows justice in our country prevails no matter what time if we can cut to the case.

C) The point of view of the article is unidentified as a male or female but we can comprehend that it is a European news writer. He/she is obviously an outsider on the situation considering they are neither any of the children in the incident or the priest with the assault chargers.

D) The author’s point of view affects the article in neither much of a negative or positive aspect it’s more of the truth that brings in the biased manner. When reading this people most likely become more realistic to the things that happens in this world. It proves how people will be people and take any risk to get what they want if they really want it. I feel the author is against the issue since they are writing mostly of a negative ideal of what is occurring and doesn’t state much of any positive aspects.

E) The point of views missing from the article are mostly all the insiders. I would like to hear from any or all of the insiders of the issue because it would help me understand how they feel about the issue and what impact or feel they have of it. As for the children, I would like to understand how it has affected their lives by the assaulting and how they wanted justice back. As for the priest, I would like to hear his general insight on his attacks.

I think it is terrible that a priest could put his hands on a child. He sghould have known not to touch a child at his church. It is completely inapropriate and should be punished for his wrong doing.

This is why I believe the voice of the children and of the younger generation should be heard more than it is. The children were afraid to say anything, because they knew no one would take them seriously, and they would get found out by the Father. Sometimes people just don't pay enough attention to those younger than them.

I think it's really sad how the children couldn't do anything to end their misery. They were most likely too terrified to confront this problem because everyone's friends with the priest and if he got accused of this crime, he might have plotted revenge on them. I agree with Dylan, the priest should keep his hands to himself!
