II. The USS George Washington, an aircraft carrier currently residing in Norfolk, VA has been scheduled for relocation to Japan on Monday, which formerly held the USS Kitty Hawk. The port in Japan has had a rocky history with the U.S. A U.S. sailor recently stabbed a cab driver there. Many safety precautions are being taken which is leading many to feel concerned about having a nuclear powered war machine based in Japan. The aircraft will soon be located in Yokosuka, Japan. It will be the first nuclear powered aircraft carrier ever to be moved to Japan. There are many mixed feelings because of the use of a nuclear powered warship.

III.
a) This article relates to the theme, Impact of technology, economics, and demography on people and the environment. A new technology, the nuclear powered aircraft carrier, is having an effect on the people of Japan and its port.
b) A U.S. Navy seaman recently stabbed a Japanese cab driver before the scheduled move of the aircraft carrier, which was noted in the article. Also the USS Kitty Hawk( the warship being replaced) has been used since 1961.
c) The author is unknown, but is most likely a Japanese insider because he or she is writing for the Japan Times.
d) A quote by Capt. Dave Dykhoff, explained the “vital importance,” of the movement of the aircraft carrier. While he feels that this is a major event occurring, others may not feel that is has any significance of importance.
e) I would like to hear from a Japanese citizen who will be receiving the nuclear powered aircraft carrier. There views about having this war tool may be different than someone who is getting the aircraft carrier moved away from them.
f) I think that the movement of the aircraft carrier is a significant event but also feel unsettled about a nuclear powered warship being moved to Japan. There is nothing I have against Japan, but nuclear powered war tools in general are unsettling because if something goes wrong, it could have a huge impact on people and the environment anywhere.

So I guess nuclear powered war ships will be the new thing. This is good because it will save fossil fuel. But I just have one question. If it gets shot will it explode like a floating nuclear bomb?
