II. Summary
Many countries mainly in Europe have been discriminating the people of Islam threw art and film making. Since last year a Newspaper published in Denmark has been printing cartoons of the Prophet Mohammad. According to Islam it is disgraceful to make drawings of The Prophet with his face uncovered because he is divine. Seeing cartoons of the Prophets face unveiled was absurd according to believers of Islam. This caused them to go threw the streets chanting “Death to Denmark.” More than 10,000 people went to the streets to protest. These cartons were actually part of many discriminating pictures made in Denmark; this information was then giving to Muslim in the Middle East which then led to many deadly riots and more protesting. In the Netherlands a Dutch man by the name of Geert Wilders is making a film comparing the Koran to a fascist book which is stirring up controversy. Muslims believe that the criticism about the Koran and The Prophet Mohammad is a serious abomination that needs serious punishments such. This means death and destruction towards Non-Islamic communities to many Islamic extremist.
III. Reaction
· This article relates to the AP World History theme, “Impact of interaction among and within major societies.” This is the proper theme because these to regions Europe and the Middle East have been having interaction through newspapers and news article seen on the web. The impact of this Internet and newspaper interaction led to many riots and protesting in the Middle East about the Islamic faith.
· Even since the time of Mohammad many have viewed Islam as being unsightly and vile. Followers of Islam believe it is their duty to spread there religion to all who view their religion as an abomination. For many extremist that may be through terror and war. Many extremist believe that 9/11 was a way of telling us America to stop their horrid ways and to convert to Islam. Since the beginning of the post-classical period we can see how the Umayyad tried to spread Islam among the European Empires and in the African Kingdoms.
· The publication is not very clear on who wrote it. Although we do know it was published through Associative Press (Ap). Therefore we can’t make many conclusions towards why the author wrote this article in this fashion, what nationality this person is, and if this writer is an insider or outsider. (Ap news is a worldwide news corporation)
· Through the article the authors displays some facts that seem hard to clarify. In the article the author writes, “He estimates that more than 10,000 people took part in the protest. An Associated Press reporter put the crowd at about 5,000. With such a huge interval of number of protester we can not get a very vivid picture of how big of an impact this protest had. This may cause the person to be in favor of the Afghans because of this vague description. This may cause people to have different thoughts.
· The point of view that is missing from the article is the Europeans. I would like to hear a spokesman for the Denmark newspaper say what the purpose was to create such discriminating pictures of the Islamic faith.
· I believe that it is completely wrong that these pictures of Mohammad should be allowed in newspaper publications. Muslim view Mohammad as a very sacred person and should be highly respected. I also believe that the movie being made should be band because Muslims are allowed to believe what they want; no one has any right to contradict and compare the Koran to such horrible terms. All that Denmark and the Netherlands are doing is making worse relations with the Middle East. This is just one reason that is causing many disputes and problem in the current era.

Jacob's clear, analytical response was great. I agree with him in sense that printing cartoons that would disrespect another religion in anyway is completly unacceptable. That this pictures are allowed in a newspaper is ridiculous and inconsiderate. I feel strong about this issue, just like Jacob, and believe that you should respect another's religion.
I agree with Jacob, the Koran and the prophet Muhammad are very important to the religion of Islam and doing this is just down right disrespectful. It is one thing to disrespect your own religion but disrespecting someone else's religion is in poor taste and ignorant. By doing this, Denmark could get themselves in a lot of trouble and we know what the Middle East is capable of doing if given the opportunity.
I don't know what could've motivated the cartoonist to draw Muhammed in his strip. Either he was ignorant to that particular aspect of the Islamic faith, or simply didn't care. It's well known that Muhammed, being a divine figure in the eyes of Muslims, should never be rendered in art form without a veil or something to cover up his face. It's blasphemy. You would think that the people who look at the cartoons before they are published would know how offensive it is. Really, it isn't that much of an obscurity. So, I agree with Chris and Dylan, in that what the Denmark cartoonist did was wrong. If they are to continue making the cartoon regardless, it could spell serious trouble for the United States, Denmark in particular. The last thing we need is another reason (along with the countless others) for the Muslims to hate us.
I agree with Jacob. The fact that they are showing Muhammads face unveiled and comparing the Quran to a fascist book is very disrespectful. In comparsion to a person who practices the faith Christianity, it would be like desecrating a picture of Jesus Christ and saying bad things about the Bible. I bet if the Muslims would do this to Denmark, they would not be very happy. Hopefully this conflict can be resolved, by having that movie banned like Jacob said and apologizing for the paintings of Muhammad.
