II. There are tensions building up between China and the US. The United States have come out with their Human rights record. This shows the top nations in the world their overall human rights ranking according the US. The US reported China as one of the lowest. China then fired back with their own review stating the negatives of the United States’ human rights criticizing America’s conflict with Iraq and large prison population. The US also stated about Chinas involvement with torture, electric shock, and beatings. China also describes that the US involvement in the Middle East is “the biggest human rights tragedy…in the modern day world.

III.

· The AP theme my article relates to is cultural, religious, and intellectual developments. The culture in China and in the United States of America is quite different. Because of this there might be some tension do to the different cultures. So China therefore has its ideas and limitations on human rights, whereas the US has their own as well.
· During the Cold War The United States was fighting against one thing, communism. There was never physical conflict between the two, but soon the USSR fell with the US victorious. However Communism is still around today. Mostly in East Asia, China and North Korea. This makes things a little bit rough around the edges between China and the US.
· The person writing this is most likely a Indian male, thus making him and outsider.
· We might want to approach this article with caution the author is Indian and therefore might be leaning towards Chinas side as the two have relatively close relations. It seems like that the author had a lot of quotes made by China, but none by the US.
· The point of view missing from this article is the United States, or low class China citizen to see how the human rights really are.
· I believe that the US does not have a human rights issue as in most countries in the world women aren’t able to drive, but look in the US a women is running for president!

The American nation does very well by its people. We are only trying to help in Iraq and we help many 3rd world countries as well. I'd rather have a high prison population than beat and torture the people of my country.
