II. Summary

This article is about how NATO( North Atlantic Treaty Organization) was concerned when some of Russia's Strategic bombers were seen flying over Atlantic waters. NATO said that although Russia's planes did not violate the boundaries of any foriegn areas, they were still concerned being that they were flying there for over 15 hours. President Putin of Russia decided that in order to NOT put Russia's security in danger he would have the planes patrol 20-30 times a month.

III. Reactions

a) This article fits the Ap World History Theme of "Impact of technology, economics, and demography on people and the environment". It fits this theme because, because of the renewal of the flights and old planes they are now flying and Patroling to try and keep their counjtry more secure.
b) In August of 2007, the president Putin signed a decree that renewed the flight of strategic aviation to secure the areas. A plane that came back into Russia's use is the Tu-95 which was originally built by the Soviet Union during the Cold War.
c) The person who wrotge this is a male, Russian Reporter.
d) This person does not seem to show bias, however we should take into consideration that if he is Russian than he may favor the fact that these planes flying over The Atlantic waters are protecting his own home country.
e) A point of view that is missing is that of someone that is actually in NATO. It would help us to hear from them because they could tell us about the planes and if they thought that they seemed somewhat suspicious and/or threatening.
f) Although that this article isn't extremely interesting I find that it is somewhat important that NATO was a bit concerned about the 15 hour flight because it actually shows the government paying attention to things and showing some concern for the welfare of its people.
