II. Summary
There was a recent burley in Iraq in a National museum. Everything was taken able to be carried. Some five thousand articles were stolen. They were all very old, including some which dated back before 3000 B.C.E. Although not all of the pieces were retrieved, few were obtained at the border between Syria and Iraq. There were a total of about 15,000 artifacts stolen, of those 5,000 have been recovered and sent back to the museum. The robbers were trying to cross the border, therefore they may have been from Syria.
III. Reactions
a) This article relates to the AP history theme Impact of interaction among and within major societies. This is because there was an issue and problem within Iraq. This is a conflict involving Iraqi citizens, or Syria and Iraq.
b) Syria and Iraq are not at any conflicts worldwide as of now. They do however have many Muslim citizens. Both have Sunnis and Shiites’, bringing up a possible reason for the break in. Besides wealth
c) There are two authors for this article. One may be an American woman, and the other may be a Muslim male.
d) Because of the two authors it may be hard to have bias of two different people of different ethnic background. However a key word written in the article “ransacked” in the statement about the break in may have been used aggressively showing some type of bias.
e) One point of view missing from the article is from an officer of Iraq. This would help interpret the document so that inside knowledge of the scene and convicts could be known pf.
f) My reaction to this article is that these robbers ned to be stopped. It is not right to take historical artifacts for one persons benefit. With these artifacts the secrets of the past are discovered, and without it then there will be less known.
