Summary
A Palestinian gunman fired inside a Jewish school, killing eight and wounding ten Israeli people. Most of these people were in their 20’s. Aharon Franco, the Jerusalem police chief, killed the gunman after he had fired for five minutes, using an automatic shooting weapon within the schools library. Nobody from the Hamas, or group of Palestinians in control of the Gaza strip, took responsibility for the gunman’s attack, even though they had celebrated it.
Reactions
· This article relates to the AP World History theme of, Impact of interaction among and within major societies, because these two groups of people continue to fight, which is only making their conflict worse than it was.
· The conflicts between Palestine and Israel have been going on for an extremely long time. They began fighting because they both claimed the same land.
· Not much information can be inferred about the author of this article. It does seem, however, that the author is not trying to take sides with either the Israeli or Palestinian. He tells both sides of the story equally, and not just telling us everything that one group was doing, if he was taking a certain side in the article.
· Even though the author is not revealing any bias, there are other people within the article that show bias in their opinion. One example could be how the Israeli Foreign Ministry Spokesman called Palestinians terrorists, even when the Israeli are attacking the Palestinians too. An even better example would be how Condoleezza Rice, the U.S. secretary of state, called this, “a barbarous act”, meaning uncivilized.
· The point of view by an Israeli student, which was in the school when the attack occurred, would be helpful because they would be able to fully explain what took place. They were the people who were there so they would have the most information as to what the attack was like.
· I feel that this kind of fighting is not the right thing to do. We shouldn’t just go hurt or kill others just because we don’t like them. I believe that the Israeli and the Palestinians should talk with one another about their conflict until an agreement is reached.

nick this is insain! i cant believe this article, this is so cruel to do to the jewish people. i have to agree with you when you say they should talk it out. if they did lots of things could get resolved, than things like this wouldnt happen and innocent people wouldnt get hurt for no good reason.
Nick I agree with your views on the brutality and pointlessness of the actions performed by the Palestinian man towards the Jewish school. The conflict between these two regions has gone on for some time according to my knowledge and I don't know if at this point just talking will be able to solve anything between the two groups. They might need a miracle for anything to be figured out in some sort of peace agreement between the Palestinians and Jews.
Nick, Good job analyzing the article. Your summary made it clear how despicable the human race really is! Actually, it has always been this way. If you think back to the Holocaust, Jew's were being persecuted then as well. There could be really big problems if these people don't sort it out. I completely agree that they have to talk and just fix the mess they are making before it can't be fixed. Hating is one thing, but killing is definitely a completely other aspect! In many ways our society is just turning into a paint ball game where everyone is just killing each other. What's worse, people just kill each other because they are on separate teams. They don't even have concrete reasons. Humans are a weird species these days but Nick you made a great point in saying that it definitely isn't the right way to go about making peace. Fighting doesn't get you anywhere.
