II. On March 20th, 2008, presidential candidate Mr. Barack Obama made a speech, saying that he believed that U.S.'s economy was falling because of the Iraq War. He also said, to make the Democrats look good, that Mr. John McCain, the Republican nominee, would keep America on the same track, thus leading to more recession. McCain countered by saying that troops need to be in Iraq so it can stay safe. Some evidence can support Obama's claim, because a recent study has shown that the war costs American civillians 3 trillion dollars. More than half the people of America side with Obama, with 71% of the population believing that the economy's current state is an effect of the Iraq war.
III. a) This article relates to the AP World Theme of Impact of technology, economics, and demography on people and the environment, because this debacle has much to do with economics and how it affects people. In the war, technology is being used, and it definitely impacts the people of the Middle East. This technology is also hurting our nation's economy, beacause all the weapons, trucks and equipment that need to be transported and used costs us money. It's a chain reaction, becasue when our economy is hurt, then taxpayers get impacted. The people of our nation as a whole are impacted beacause of the state of our economy.
b)For 5 years now, American troops have been stationed in Iraq, trying to create a better society for the Iraqi people. In the process, 4000 people and trillions of dollars have been lost. The American people have been getting fed up with the war and all it has been costing them. Senator Barack Obama, Senator Hilary Clinton, Senator John McCain, and a few other people have been competing to win presidential nominations for their parties. Mr. Obama has made a few speeches on different topics.
c)This person is a Chinese outsider, with an unknown gender.
d) By using the term 'woes' in his/her article, the writer seems to sympathize with the American population. They also say that the Iraq war "consumed billions of U.S. dollars" which makes it seem like they feel the same way 71% of Americans do. He/she really didn't have much to say on the defense of this issue, so it was mainly one-sided.
e) It would have been nice to hear from some government official, maybe the treasurer, to defend the Iraq war a little more than just one line from John McCain.
f) I really actually agree with the 71% on this issue. I think that, indeed, the Iraq war is pointless, and used up all of our money. I'm glad that the majority feels this way, but I'm unhappy that nothing has been done to change things.

Although I do not find the war in Iraq pointless, I agree with most of your statements and the 71% of Americans that believe we should leave Iraq. This is a very important issue, globally and just within the United States. It seems that since there are so many different opinions on the subject, nothing is being done to change what is happening. I think this is a good article on Democrats' outlooks of the issue but lacks on Republicans'.
